WOMEN INSPIRING TOMORROW (WIT) CONFERENCE 2016


SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 12:30 P.M.

At the Third Annual WIT Conference, high school-aged YPC choristers and young alumnae met and learned from successful women in a variety of fields over a formal lunch, speeches, fashion presentation by Lafayette 148 New York, and panel discussion with special guests Honorable Gale A. Brewer and Rehema Ellis. The theme was Integrity in Politics, Journalism, and the Arts.

HONORABLE GALE A. BREWER

Manhattan Borough President, City of New York

Gale A. Brewer is the 27th Manhattan Borough President, responsible for advising the Mayor and City Council on borough concerns, commenting on all land-use matters in the borough, advocating for the borough in the municipal budget process, and appointing members of Manhattan’s 12 Community Boards.

AILYN PÉREZ

Operatic Soprano

Hailed by the New York Times as “a beautiful woman who commands the stage” and “a major soprano,” Ailyn Pérez is increasingly in demand at leading international venues. Recent honours include The Metropolitan Opera’s 2016 Beverly Sills Award, the 15th annual Plácido Domingo Award, and the 2012 Richard Tucker Award (thereby becoming the only Hispanic recipient in the award’s 35-year history).

REHEMA ELLIS

Chief Education Correspondent, NBC News

Rehema Ellis was named the chief education correspondent at NBC News in 2010. She plays an integral part of NBC News’ “Education Nation” initiative. Ellis has been part of major headliner stories, including the attacks on the World Trade Center. She has distinguished herself as a lead correspondent and received numerous awards including local and national Emmys.
