The Young People’s Chorus of New York City is among 30 musicians from three continents to be invited by composer Paola Prestini and Mexican vocalist Magos Herrera to take part in “Con Alma,” a genre-crossing blend of Mexican folk songs, American jazz standards, and original musical meditations on isolation in a free, live digital experience from Mexico City and New York City on Sunday, December 13, at 7 p.m. at conalmaproject.com/event
“Con Alma” was also released in album form on December 4, and in addition to YPC, others featured in this work are Mexican Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería, Silk Road Ensemble clarinetist Kinan Azmeh, and arrangers Gonzalo Grau and Diego Schissi.
