Wednesday, August 18 at 9:00 P.M. EDT

The Young People’s Chorus of New York City will be featured in a special encore broadcast of WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase series.

This program, which initially aired in 2011, features a remarkable display of YPC’s acclaimed artistry, versatility, and range, and includes songs like “Ave Maria,” by Johannes Brahms, “Picaflor Esmeralda,” by Gabriel Lena Frank (a YPC commission), and, of course, “Give Us Hope,” the YPC anthem, composed by Jim Papoulis.

Host Robert Sherman speaks about the unique YPC program with Director/Founder Francisco J. Núñez, alumna and Just Songs composer Monica Soyemi, and with Pulitzer Prize and Guggenheim award-winning composer David Del Tredici, from whom YPC commissioned “Four Heartfelt Anthems,” the first movement of which is performed on this program.
