New Music Series Vocal Currents Reimagines and Redefines Today’s Music

On Saturday, November 3, in a concert of music as diverse as the young singers who performed it, the Young People’s Chorus of New York City presented Vocal Currents, its newest commissioning series, at Merkin Hall.  With WNYC’s John Schaefer hosting, Francisco Núñez and Elizabeth Núñez conducting, and most of the composers on hand to talk about their compositions, YPC performed eight 2018 commissions and the New York premiere of a 2010 composition, with visual images, lighting, and choreography that enhanced the performances and enchanted the enthusiastic, capacity audience.
