Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City have come together for a powerful collaboration to honor those we have lost to the pandemic.

Ten years ago, on March 11, 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami struck Tohoku, devastating the region and impacting thousands of lives. We are honored to join the Consulate General of Japan in New York in paying tribute to those affected by this natural disaster with this performance of “Furusato,” a well-known children’s song that means “Hometown” in Japanese.

As children and youth choruses have transitioned to online rehearsals and training, directors are rethinking what engaging young singers looks like in this new space. Hear from three organizations that are using movement and choreography to help keep singers active and involved.

The Young People’s Chorus of New York City under the direction of YPC Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Núñez, returns to St. Patrick’s Cathedral (virtually) on Thursday, December 17, at 7 p.m. for the cathedral’s 41st annual “A City Singing at Christmas,” a glorious celebration of this most joyful time of the year.
