7 Things to Do With Your Kids in N.Y.C. This Weekend

THE YPC BIG SING’ at Symphony Space (Sept. 22, 3 p.m.). “YPC” is shorthand for the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, which isn’t necessarily easy to get into; one of the nation’s premier youth choirs, it requires auditions. But on Saturday, for the first time, it will welcome anyone to sing with it — at least for 90 minutes. Founded by Francisco J. Núñez, its artistic director, the chorus will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a concert in which audience members can participate. The lyrics to all songs will be projected but may not be needed, since the program will include well-known tunes like Paul McCartney and John Lennon’s “Hey Jude,” Harry Dixon Loes’s “This Little Light of Mine,” Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land” and one that at least some listeners will have grown up with: Joe Raposo’s “Sing,” from “Sesame Street.”
