Position Overview
The Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) provides volunteer internships for students interested in gaining experience in the field of non-profit performing arts management and strengthening the role that music plays in society.
What do YPC Interns do?
Interns will assist in a variety of exciting projects related to YPC’s international and domestic programs, ranging from archiving the extraordinary history of YPC to being an integral member of the concert production team. Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with YPC’s Development, Administrative, and Production staff.
The YPC Internship Program seeks to engage the unique skills and interests of each individual in addition to helping students develop an aptitude for new and unfamiliar skills.
Who should apply?
The internship program is particularly beneficial for:
- students wishing to pursue a career in arts management
- budding vocalists and musicians seeking to learn the logistics of running a performing arts company
- individuals who desire to affect social change through the arts, to further the reach of choral music both in NYC and abroad
- students looking to gain volunteer/community service hours in an exciting and creative environment.
Requirements
No prior experience in music or arts management is required. Responsibilities are scaled to the ability of each intern.
Interns are required to commit to a minimum of 1-2 days per week during office hours, M-F 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
