Núñez and Associate Artistic Director Elizabeth Núñez conducting YPC in eight 2018 YPC commissions and a choral arrangement of a 2010 work. SUMMARY:World Premiere of "Borderless" and New York Premiere of "The Glass Box" at Merkin Hall
DESCRIPTION:« All Events \n\n\n\n\n \n\nJune 18 at 8:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall\n \n \n \n \n\n\nYoung People’s Chorus of New York City and Yale Choral Artists take the stage at Merkin Concert Hall for an entertaining concert of diverse works that relate to citizenship and the contributions to America of music from many parts of the world – from Finland to the Amazonian rain forest. \nA highlight of the program is the World Premiere of Arturo O’Farrill’s Borderless\, a YPC commission that imagines a world where everyone belongs and is free to roam. A second highlight is the New York premiere of Paola Prestini’s The Glass Box\, a co-commission of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City and Yale Choral Artists. This work was inspired by Rachel Aviv’s New Yorker Magazine piece\, “E.R. from Sweden\,” which describes the trauma of refugee children who fall into comas when learning their families will be deported. \nThis concert will be preceded by a discussion at 7:30 p.m. moderated by YPC Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J.
