Leaving the platform requires deliberate precision because interface designers intentionally tuck deletion triggers behind multiple submenus. A casual uninstall merely removes the local application from your handset; it leaves your biometric markers, viewing histories, and personal credentials active within ByteDance servers.
To execute a permanent profile removal, launch the app and open your profile tab. Tap the three-line hamburger menu in the top-right corner to open your settings menu. Select Manage account settings, then navigate to the bottom entry labeled Deactivate or delete account. The interface presents two distinct paths: deactivating temporarily or pursuing permanent account deletion.
Choose permanent deletion. The system will prompt you with an exit survey designed to slow you down. Select a reason or click "Skip." At this juncture, the platform prompts you to confirm whether you wish to download your data archive. Check the confirmation acknowledgment and tap Continue. The final hurdle requires account verification via SMS, email code, or third-party OAuth provider. Once verified, tap the red deletion confirmation button.
