SUMMARY:Tampere Vocal Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:« All Events \n\n\n\n\nJune 5 to June 11\, 2017 \nYoung People’s Chorus of New York City\, under the direction of Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Núñez\, has been invited to represent the Americas in the renowned Songbridge program of the Tampere Vocal Music Festival.  Held under the auspices of UNESCO and endorsed by the IFCM (International Federation for  Choral Music)\, Songbridge will feature YPC and just two other youth choirs – the Indonesian Children and Youth Choir representing Asia and the Vox Aurea Children’s Choir from Jyvaskyla\, Finland\, representing Europe.  The entire Tampere Vocal Festival\, a celebration of Finland’s centenary\, will welcome over 50 choirs from around the world.  A key element of the Songbridge Gala Concert is that each of the three choirs will give the world premiere of a composition written by a composer of their choice that represents each choir’s own country and be in harmony with this year’s Songbridge theme\, “Freedom of Speech.”  YPC has commissioned composer Michael Gordon\, who will be present for the world premiere of his work “To Sing.” \n\n\n\n\nDate:\nJune 5 to 11\, 2017 \n\n\n\n\nVenue:\nTampere Vocal Music Festival

Brewer is the 27th Manhattan Borough President\, responsible for advising the Mayor and City Council on borough concerns\, commenting on all land-use matters in the borough\, advocating for the borough in the municipal budget process\, and appointing members of Manhattan’s 12 Community Boards. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAILYN PÉREZ\n\n\n\nOperatic Soprano \n\n\n\nHailed by the New York Times as “a beautiful woman who commands the stage” and “a major soprano\,” Ailyn Pérez is increasingly in demand at leading international venues. DESCRIPTION:« All Events \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFESTIVAL NAPA VALLEY: AMERICAN SPIRITUALS WITH LESTER LYNCH AND YPC\n\n\n\nTHURSDAY\, JULY 21\, 6 PM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe soaring voices of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City and the acclaimed operatic baritone Lester Lynch will fill the beautiful Mission-style chapel of the Christian Brothers’ historic Mont La Salle\, a serene space with superb acoustics. \n\n\n\nThe concert opens with the award-winning youth chorus\, whose far-ranging repertoire encompasses Renaissance and classical works\, folk\, gospel\, contemporary and world music. Then comes the celebrated Lester Lynch. Recognized for his charismatic portrayals and commanding voice\, Lynch will sing music from his forthcoming Pentatone recording of American Spirituals\, joined by pianist Brian Farrell and violinist Igor Pikayzen.
