DESCRIPTION:« All Events \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFREE PRE-CURTAIN PERFORMANCE BEFORE CLASSICAL THEATER OF HARLEM’S “THE BACCHAE” AT MARCUS GARVEY PARK\n\n\n\nSaturday\, July 13\, at 7:00 p.m.Richard Rodgers Amphitheater at Marcus Garvey Park \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYoung People’s Chorus of New York City returns to Marcus Garvey Park for a pre-curtain concert to The Classical Theatre of Harlem’s Uptown Shakespeare in the Park theatrical presentation of “The Bacchae.” \n\n\n\n“The Bacchae\,” a new version of the Euripides classic Greek tragedy by Bryan Doerries\, is directed by Carl Cofield with choreography by Tiffany Rea-Fisher.  It tells the story of Dionysus\, the god of wine\, prophecy\, religious ecstasy\, and fertility\, who returns to his birthplace in Thebes in order to clear his mother’s name and to punish the insolent city state for refusing to allow people to worship him. \n\n\n\nThis pre-curtain concert by YPC is a one-hour example of the acclaimed programs of virtuoso music and dance that have thrilled and entertained a global array of festival audiences on four continents for over two decades. \n\n\n\n7:00 p.m. Pre-curtain concert by the Young People’s Chorus of New York City \n\n\n\n8:15 p.m. The Classical Theatre of Harlem’s presentation of “The Bacchae” \n\n\n\nBoth performances are free and open to the public. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\nDate:Saturday\, July 13 \n\n\n\nTime:7:00 p.m. \n\n\n\n\n\nVenue:Marcus Garvey Park’s Richard Rodgers Amphitheater6316\, Mt Morris Park W\, New York\, NY 10027 \n\n\n\nTickets:Free and open to the public
