SUMMARY:Summer 2018 Japan Tour
DESCRIPTION:« All Events \n\n\n\n\n \n \n\nJuly 9-August 10\, 2018\n15 cities throughout Japan\n \n \n\nIn its fifth visit to Japan\, YPC choristers\, under the direction of YPC Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Núñez\, will embark on a country-wide\, month-long tour of Japan from July 9 to August 10.  The tour will include 18 performances and 5 workshops in 15 cities\, and will cover more than 1100 miles from Shunan in the south of Japan to Sapporo in the north. \nThis tour is being sponsored by Min-On Concert Association\, which since 1965 has been introducing the finest performing arts and artists from every corner of the world to the people of Japan in its mission to promote international cultural exchange and peace.  Min-On has previously sponsored YPC twice before:  in back-to-back\, sold-out tours in 2009 and 2010 reaching thousands of audience members in 30 Japanese cities.\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\nDates: \nJuly 9-August 10\, 2018 \nTimes: \nPerformance times vary\, check back for more information.

SUMMARY:Classical Theatre of Harlem’s "Antigone" - Free Pre-Curtain Concert at Marcus Garvey Park
DESCRIPTION:« All Events \n\n\n\n\n \n \n\nThursday\, July 12 at 7:00 p.m.\nRichard Rodgers Amphitheater at Marcus Garvey Park\n \n \n\nAt 7 p.m. on Thursday\, July 12\, the Young People’s Chorus of New York City under the direction of YPC Associate Artistic Director Elizabeth Núñez will give a free pre-curtain concert prior to the Classical Theatre of Harlem’s Antigone at Marcus Garvey Park. \nYPC will have just returned from the Kathaumixw International Choral Festival in British Columbia\, and this concert will provide the audience with the rare opportunity to experience a one-hour version of the kind of extraordinary program of virtuoso music and dance that YPC takes on tour to countries all over the world. \nAt 8:15 p.m.\, the Classical Theatre of Harlem will present\, Antigone\, the tragedy by the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles of a young woman\, who unapologetically protests an edict handed down by the city’s elders about what she feels is the unethical treatment of her slain brother.
