DESCRIPTION:« All Events \n\n\n\n\n \n \n\nJuly 1-9\, 2018\nPowell River\, British Columbia\, Canada\n \n \n\nFrom July 1 to 9\, more than 40 choristers from the Young People’s Chorus of New York City led by YPC Associate Artistic Director Elizabeth Núñez will take part in International Choral Kathaumixw\, a renowned choral festival that takes place every two years in Powell River\, a beautiful city 80 air miles north of Vancouver on the “Sunshine Coast” of British Columbia in Canada.  The YPC singers will join more than 1\,200 singers from choruses in North America and as far away as Uganda\, Taiwan\, Poland\, and Australia\, in four days of performances and competitions. \nIn addition to competitions\, on Wednesday\, July 4\, YPC will be featured in concert with three other participating choirs – Crescent Collegiate Vocal Ensemble (Canada)\, Ad Una Corda (Slovak Republic)\, and Pan African Choir (Uganda) – at the Max Cameron Theatre. \nInternational Choral Kathaumixw was launched in 1984.  Its founders\, wanting to underscore a strong sense of place\, named the festival “Kathaumixw\,” a word from the Salishan language spoken by Native Americans in the Puget Sound area\, meaning “a gathering together of different peoples.” \nTickets are available at PowellRiverAcademy.org.\n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\nDates: \nJuly 1-9\, 2018 \nTimes: \nPerformance times vary \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n\n\n\nVenue: \nInternational Choral Kathaumixw\n7280 Kemano Street\, Powell River\, BC\, Canada\, V8A 1B2 \nTickets: \nPrices vary and multiple concert packages available\, click here for details.

SUMMARY:Summer 2018 Japan Tour
DESCRIPTION:« All Events \n\n\n\n\n \n \n\nJuly 9-August 10\, 2018\n15 cities throughout Japan\n \n \n\nIn its fifth visit to Japan\, YPC choristers\, under the direction of YPC Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Núñez\, will embark on a country-wide\, month-long tour of Japan from July 9 to August 10.  The tour will include 18 performances and 5 workshops in 15 cities\, and will cover more than 1100 miles from Shunan in the south of Japan to Sapporo in the north. \nThis tour is being sponsored by Min-On Concert Association\, which since 1965 has been introducing the finest performing arts and artists from every corner of the world to the people of Japan in its mission to promote international cultural exchange and peace.  Min-On has previously sponsored YPC twice before:  in back-to-back\, sold-out tours in 2009 and 2010 reaching thousands of audience members in 30 Japanese cities.\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\nDates: \nJuly 9-August 10\, 2018 \nTimes: \nPerformance times vary\, check back for more information.
