Every user holds the right to request their raw account archive directly from the profile settings tab. Under Settings > Account > Download your data, you can select either a TXT file or a machine-readable JSON package. Many assume this bundle contains a folder packed with their entire video output. It does not.
The official archive includes your chat logs, purchase history, profile metadata, comment records, and a structured list of media URLs pointing back to the app's central databases. Those URLs resolve directly to video files as long as ByteDance keeps infrastructure active. If federal mandates lead to a complete service severance, those remote pointers stop working. Use the official data package to document your engagement metrics, caption copy, and follower graphs, but never treat it as an offline media backup.
